Dirk studied German Philosophy and Political Sciences in Berlin and started his theatre career as a business manager of the independent “junges Theater” in Berlin. After that he was responsible for Management and Marketing at carrousel Theater an der Parkaue, Berlin, the state owned theatre for Children and Young People. In this function Dirk Neldner got his first experiences with international network activities.

From 2009 to 2013 Dirk Neldner was head of “Platform 11 plus – Artistic Discoveries in European Schoolyards”, a European theatre network of 13 equally-participating theatres from 12 countries in connection with local cultural organisations, universities and schools. Platform 11 plus initiated multidisciplinary cultural efforts (literature, performing and visual arts, new media, cultural education) for and among youth aged 11-15.

Dirk is managed the project “Documents of poverty and hope – a global theatre intervention”, which was also supported by the European Commission. Three theatres from Europe (IT, PT, GB), two from Canada and one from Australia have joined together to work globally on the theme Poverty and Migration.
